Everything is getting more expensive in Seattle. How can a cup of coffee plus a baked good cost more than what you'd spend for dinner less than 10 years ago? Thankfully, you can get a bit of sticker shock reprieve by heading into the Daiso store, just kitty corner from the Uwajimaya (prices at Uwa are Ok though roughly 50% or higher than Daiso). Like others had mentioned, Daiso is sort of like a Japanese dollar store. Prices are now a minimum of $1.75, but you'll find things here that you couldn't find at your local dollar store. Like what you say? How about a stainless steel fish turner/spatula, a stainless steel mesh drain trap, assorted mini colanders & strainers, imported savory and sweet snacks, and assorted sundries, toiletries, school supplies, and paper goods. Teens and college-age folks would love this place, especially since it'll break no ones budget. You'll find basically the same items here as you would at Target or Fred Meyer for HALF the price. Another must-stop whenever I'm in the Seattle area.

Though this is not the biggest Daiso, it is certainly very conveniently located across the street from Uwajimaya so all your grocery needs can be done on your visit to the International District! I'm a big fan of Daiso for it's snack selection, particularly teas and crackers. I also always go here for stationary supplies or if I need any organizational containers. I always find something good here!

Located across the street from Uwajimaya in downtown Seattle. No parking lot available, so street parking. This is a smaller store than what we have on Oahu, but we always like to check out what each city's Daiso (if they have one), has to offer. We exited with 1 large bag full of items....yes, we did...even though we have 2 Daiso's on Oahu :) Most items are $1.50- but the staff will remind you which items are NOT $1.50. I appreciate that!

This is a small Daiso but it definitely belongs in the International District, with Uwajimaya and Kinokuniya just down the block. Most items are $1.50 but I've noticed more and more items are priced a bit higher $2-$5. The rows are a bit cramped here so I wouldn't come here with large bags or anything. They have a good selection of the containers that are good for organizing drawers and the like.
